Innoverse Showcase 2025
UNIMY’s Tech-Driven Showcase of Ideas, Innovation & Impact

On 21 August 2025, the Menara BAC's Horizon Banquet Hall transformed into a buzzing hub of creativity and innovation as University Malaysia of Computer Science and engineering (UNIMY) hosted its Innoverse Showcase 2025. The event brought together more than 30 students from across UNIMY’s diverse programmes, including Diploma, Degree, and Postgraduate studies in fields such as Robotics, Cybersecurity, IT, Computer Science, and Software Engineering. Every student proudly presented their inventive solutions to real-world problems.

Described by many as a "tech-inspired Shark Tank," the showcase featured over 18 booths where students introduced their ideas, ranging from software apps and AI-powered devices to design concepts and theoretical frameworks. This melting pot of creativity reflected the breadth of UNIMY’s academic community, where students from different levels and backgrounds worked together to create meaningful projects.

Inspired and Engaged

The showcase drew a large turnout of visitors, including middle and high school students on field trips, South Korean exchange students, professionals from the tech, business, medical, and environmental fields, start-up entrepreneurs, and our very own members of BAC Education.

Guests also enjoyed the complete experience with gaming booths (retro favourites like Tekken 3, football, and a racing simulator proved popular with school visitors), food stalls, and even a musical performance by a UNIMY student who dedicated a heartfelt Malay song to her lecturers.

Thought Leadership at TechTalks

The highlight of the day was the TechTalk Panel session, where distinguished speakers inspired students to think big.

  • Raja Singham, Managing Director and Chief Future Officer of BAC Education delivered a captivating speech recounting his entrepreneurial journey, every step that brought him to where he is today. To top it all off, he ended his speech by sharing a QR code linked to his contact info, offering mentorship and advice to students who wanted to push their ideas further.
  • Murugason T. Thangaratnam, UNIMY Adjunct Professor, and Loh Chia Hur, Senior Analyst at the Academy of Sciences, shared practical strategies for surviving the start-up world, encouraging students to view setbacks as opportunities to grow.
  • Thillai Raj Ramanathan, Chief Technology Officer of BAC Education, closed the session with an uplifting speech celebrating the students’ achievements before announcing the award winners in categories such as Best Poster, Best Product, Best Presentation, and Best Postgraduate Presentation.

The Showcase of Tomorrow's Ideas

The booths showcased a stunning variety of projects, each with the potential to transform industries and everyday life. Highlights included:

  • Fish-Insure: A digital platform simplifying insurance claims for Malaysian fishermen, inspired by one student’s father who works in the sector.
  • H2H: A streamlined app to revolutionise neighbourhood and housing security registration processes.
  • Gymfit: A next-generation fitness app integrating AI workout design, personal trainer connectivity, gamification, and scheduling.
  • Jupiter: An AI-powered super-webcam capable of automating event sign-ins, hospitality check-ins, and even medical triage.
  • Plug & Pipe: A maintenance app that allows tenants to directly report and track repair requests, complete with chatbot support for DIY fixes.
  • FocusFrame: Emotion-recognition software to help teachers gauge student engagement in real time, with potential applications in HR, entertainment, and customer service.
  • Courtzy: A sports booking and matchmaking app—think “Agoda meets Tinder” but for futsal, badminton, or even sepak takraw.
  • Transformer Data Logger: A groundbreaking project enabling transformers in rural areas to capture and upload vital data before blackouts, helping technicians diagnose and resolve outages in a single trip—potentially benefitting millions in rural Malaysia and beyond.
  • A Platform for Visionaries

Innoverse Showcase 2025 was never meant to just be an exhibition, it was a glimpse into the future. With only three months to develop their ideas, students demonstrated remarkable ingenuity and potential. The goal was to leave the participants and visitors alike inspired, and it's safe to say, that the goal was achieved. It reminded everyone that global solutions often begin in the raw ideas of passionate our young innovators. And at UNIMY, these ideas are nurtured to become reality.
