Our Bachelor of Computer Engineering with Honours programme combines computer science and electronics engineering to prepare students for creating new technologies. The curriculum covers electrical theory, digital circuits, programming, data structures, software engineering, computer networks, and more. 

 Graduates will be recognised as Graduate Engineers (GE) and have the potential to become Professional Engineers with the title of Ingenieur (Ir.) and advance their careers.

Academic Requirements

No Certificate Requirement
1 FOUNDATION FOUNDATION or MATRICULATION qualification with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and a Credit in Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry) at SPM Level or its equivalent; OR
2 DIPLOMA DIPLOMA in related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
3 STPM Pass STPM with minimum Grade C (GPA 2.0) in Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry) OR
4 GCE A-LEVEL Pass GCE A-Level in Mathematics and Physics (or Chemistry); OR
5 UEC Pass UEC with at least Grade B in any 5 subjects including Mathematics and Physics; OR
6 Other Other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government

English Language Requirements

1 SPM / SPMV Minimum Pass; OR
2 IGCSE Minimum Pass; OR
3 MUET Minimum band 3 (5 years validity); OR
4 IELTS Minimum band 5.0 (2 years validity); OR

Programme Objectives

The educational objectives of the Bachelor of Computer Engineering with Honours programme are to facilitate students to become:

  • PEO1  Graduates who are able to apply engineering knowledge, understanding and practical skills to produce quality services to agencies, organizations, industries and institutions locally and globally.
  • PEO2  Graduates who are able to find solutions to complex problems within and across disciplines through effective communicative abilities.
  • PEO3  Graduates who are able to continuously upgrade their knowledge, understanding, professional ethic and ability to create business opportunities for agencies, organizations, industries and institutions locally and globally.

Statement of POs

At the end of this programme, students should be able to:

  • PO1  Engineering Knowledge – Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and computer engineering.
  • PO2  Problem Analysis – Identify, formulate and conduct research literature reviews as well as analyse complex engineering problems to reach substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences (WK1 to WK4);
  • PO3  Design/Development of Solutions – Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety as well as cultural, societal, and environmental considerations (WK5);
  • PO4  Investigation – Conduct investigation of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge (WK8) and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions;
  • PO5  Modern Tool Usage – Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling, to complex engineering problems, with an understanding of the limitations (WK6);
  • PO6  The Engineer and Society – Apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice and solutions to complex engineering problems (WK7);
  • PO7  Environment and Sustainability – Understand and evaluate the sustainability and impact of professional engineering work in the solutions of complex engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts. (WK7);
  • PO8  Ethics – Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice (WK7);
  • PO9  Individual and Team Work – Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams and in multi-disciplinary settings;
  • P10  Communication – Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large. Being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation as well as create engaging presentations in addition to the ability to give and receive clear instructions;
  • P11  Project Management and Finance – Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and application of engineering management and economic decision making to manage projects. Able to utilise mentioned principles as a team member or team leader across multidisciplinary environments;
  • P12  Life Long Learning – Recognise the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
