Bachelor of Computer Engineering (Hons)
Engineering the Core Technologies Behind AI.
This programme prepares students to engineer the intelligent computing systems, embedded platforms, AI-ready hardware, and connected technologies that power modern innovation. By combining computer science, electronics engineering, embedded systems, software development, and intelligent computing, it bridges the critical talent gap in Malaysia’s semiconductor and AI-driven technology sectors. With Malaysia positioned as a major global chip hub but facing a shortage of specialised engineers, this degree leads towards Engineering Accreditation Council recognition and the route to becoming a registered Professional Engineer in computer engineering.

Why This Programme Matters
This is not a standard computer science programme with electronics modules added on. It is a full engineering degree that integrates both disciplines from the ground up. From the first semester, students work in hands-on lab environments with real circuits, real hardware, and real engineering constraints. Learning is structured around building and testing, not just understanding.
- Malaysia controls approximately 13% of global semiconductor assembly and testing capacity
- The National Semiconductor Strategy targets 60,000 highly skilled engineers by 2030
- Malaysian universities currently produce approximately 5,000 engineering graduates per year against an industry demand of 50,000
- The electrical and electronics sector attracted RM 28.5 billion in approved investments in 2025 alone
- Malaysia is actively moving up the semiconductor value chain into IC design, advanced packaging, and AI hardware
You Will Learn
- Circuit design and analysis using industry-standard methodologies and tools
- Embedded systems programming on real microcontrollers and microprocessors
- Digital signal processing and communications engineering
- VLSI design for integrated circuits and IC design competency
- Hardware and software integration for intelligent systems
- Engineering project management and professional practice
- AI hardware, advanced packaging and semiconductor value-chain applications
- Capstone engineering projects using real constraints, real testing and design reviews
- Professional engineering readiness with an EAC-accredited pathway toward Graduate Engineer registration
AI-Native Learning Experience
The entire learning experience is structured around AI tools, AI reasoning, and immediate workforce readiness.
Embedded Fluency
AI tools and concepts are integrated into every relevant module, from circuit theory and digital electronics to software engineering and professional communication. You graduate as an engineer who naturally works alongside intelligent systems.
Engineering Lab Access
Purpose-built hardware labs equipped with oscilloscopes, signal generators, embedded development boards, microcontrollers, and VLSI design tools provide continuous access throughout all four years.
Personalised Learning Analytics
Adaptive AI systems continuously monitor progress, identify weak areas, and adjust the learning pathway accordingly. You always know where you stand and what to focus on next.
Project-Led and Simulation-Based Assessment
Students are evaluated through engineering projects, lab practicals, design reviews, and final year capstone work that mirrors how leading engineering employers evaluate junior hires.
Leadership Engineering
Communication, engineering ethics, project management, and professional practice are developed throughout all four years, ensuring graduates are technically rigorous and professionally confident from day one.
Industry Projects & Certifications
Real projects. Recognised certifications. Career advantage.
Industry Partners
Throughout the programme, UNIMY students gain continuous industry exposure well before their final year by working on real-world challenges and projects with leading hardware, semiconductor, and smart technology partners. UNIMY's Tech Talk series brings active industry leaders onto campus to cover critical topics like IoT infrastructure, AI hardware, and Malaysia's National Semiconductor Strategy.
