SO-CSI Launches QMS-RISE to Recognise Student Effort Beyond the Classroom
By Devakumar A/L Robert William, Senior Executive, BAC College

The School of Cybersecurity and Data Intelligence (SO-CSI) at UNIMY officially launched QMS-RISE on 15 October 2026 at the OMNIA Auditorium, Menara BAC, Petaling Jaya. The platform was launched by Mr. Vinod Ramanathan, Dean of SO-CSI, before an audience of SO-CSI students.
QMS-RISE is the first module of a larger Quality Management System (QMS). RISE stands for Recognition, Involvement and Student Engagement. It is provided to students free of charge. Students earn points for attendance, quizzes, events, clubs and other activities, and can watch their scores rise in real time. They progress through Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers, with top scorers eligible for rewards such as laptops, gadgets and scholarships. The platform also builds a verified co-curricular transcript that employers and partners can trust, and includes an AI chat feature.
Students can earn points in categories such as Attendance, through a QR code scan in every class, and Evaluation, where they submit confidential weekly lecturer evaluations for up to 25 points. Student names are never shown to lecturers.
In his opening message, the emcee, Mr. Osama, said that behind every successful innovation is a commitment to quality, and that quality is a professional requirement, not just an administrative one. Mr. Vinod encouraged students to be active, involved and committed rather than focus only on academic results, and urged them to put their heart and soul into learning skills such as programming.
The platform is designed to recognise engagement, encourage holistic growth, build transparency and foster lifelong learning among SO-CSI students.
