In UNIMY, we encourage all students to actively participate in external competition as it encourages them to be in touch with the real world. These external events will also provide our students with the opportunity to put their theoretical classroom knowledge to the test. Throughout the year, our students will be participating in these external programmes either as participants or volunteers.
UNIMY X R.AGE COLLABORATION
Eight Computer Science and Software Engineering students teamed up with R.AGE to revamp its website and develop a new mobile application. The collaboration was tailored to the youngsters, in promoting news consumption as part of R.AGE's focus
on using digital platform to instigate societal change.
R.AGE is an international award-winning investigative journalism platform based in Malaysia, specialising in shortform multimedia documentaries and cause-driven media campaigns.
BFM : A.I FOR GOOD HACKATHON
UNIMY students participated in the inaugural Hackathon, which was organised by an established local business station, BFM. The students consolidated their resources to design and build Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled smart city applications for the community, The focus was on the urban poor, disabled and homeless, as well as non-governmental
organisations that support these groups in Malaysia.
The Trailblazing event epitomises how UNIMY students are empowered to design and run strategic engagement events in collaboration with leading industry experts - Featuring top executives from KPMG, Dell, Celcom Axiata and many more. Trailblazing is a platform where students get a chance to learn directly and gain valuable insights from these
industry experts. The platform is designed, built, and run by students for students.
Disrupt-IT Challenge is an inter-varsity technology and innovation challenge where by university students are encouraged to ideate and come up with innovative solutions that would provide new meaningful solutions for the benefit of businesses and the society.
The sponsor, Dr Abu Hasan Ismail who is the President / Group CEO and the founder of Prestariang Berhad, envisioned for the competition to stimulate young minds to think beyond academic life and to bring about impactful changes to society. The inaugural competition last year was well received with more than 100 participations from 26 institutes of higher learning.
